The great importance of stevia in our diet:

  • Low-calorie sweeteners: Sweeteners deliver zero calories and can be an option for people who want to reduce or maintain weight. Studies have shown that low or zero calorie sweeteners can contribute to weight control by reducing the calorie content of the diet and retaining pleasure in the diet by helping people stay faithful to their diet for longer.
  • Suitable for people with diabetes: Stevia sweeteners contain no carbohydrates and do not affect blood glucose, so they can be eaten by people with diabetes.
  •  They also do not produce energy (calories) and can help reduce or maintain normal weight, a very important parameter for controlling diabetes and its complications. Recent studies have evaluated the effect of stevia on obesity, diabetes and hypertension. Daily intake of rebaudioside-A has no effect on people with normal and low systolic pressure or patients with mild to moderate hypertension. Clinical studies have shown that daily consumption of the stevia sweetener (in doses equal to or greater than Acceptable Daily Intake) does not affect blood sugar levels and is well tolerated by people with type 2 diabetes.

General Conclusion
The appropriate dose of Stevia depends on many factors such as age, condition of the individual's health, and various other conditions. At present there is insufficient scientific evidence to determine the appropriate dose range for Stevia. Keep in mind that natural products are not always safe and dosage may be important. Be sure to follow the instructions on the product labels and consult your pharmacist or your doctor or other healthcare professional before use.
